Pastor Willie F. Wilson, born in Newport News, Virginia and ordained Nana Kwadwo Boafo I, a Wolof Priest in the Gambia, West Africa, is very much at home in Anacostia where for the past 31 years he has propagated and nurtured a Christocentric, Africentric, Afro-sensitive, Weltanschauung ministry that simply says: “It’s a Family Affair.” 

 Pastor Wilson received his Bachelor Degree in Journalism from Ohio University.  Pastor Wilson also attended Howard University School of Divinity where he received a Masters Degree and did his Doctoral Studies.  He was the recipient of several awards including the Rockefeller Protestant Fellowship Award for academic achievement and the Vernon Johns Preaching Award for the most “Outstanding Orator and Preacher” of his graduating class. His repertoire includes training in self-evaluation techniques and psychiatric counseling under the esteemed instruction of Dr. B. Haldane and Dr. Ernest Bruder.  In the annals of time he will be duly noted for his many awards and accolades that wallpaper his office from door to door including ceremonial documentation of his installation as a sub-chief by the Asankare-Bretuo in Asankrangwa, West Ghana.  He was inducted in this high ceremony as NANA KWADWO BOAFO I, and with this honor he has the uttermost credence and positive authority to perform any and all ceremonies relating to African people at home and abroad.  Chief Nana Kwadwo Boafo I has performed scores of African-American weddings and was referenced in the book Jumping the Broom.......

Reverend Mary Lewis Wilson is a native of Buffalo, New York, born to a family of preachers and spiritual leaders.  The legacy continues through her two daughters, Minister Anika Wilson Brown and Minister Kalilia (LiLi) Wilson.  She is the Executive Pastor of the Union Temple Baptist Church, where her husband, Rev. Willie F. Wilson, is the pastor.

 

Reverend Mary L. Wilson is an alumnus of Howard University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology and psychology.  She received her Master of Divinity degree at the Howard University School of Divinity.  Her scholarship and her compassion combined are the substance of a dynamic ministry that is manifested in her vision and her leadership qualities.  God is glorified in the work of this Woman of God because of her innate ability to empower and encourage others.

 

Reverend Wilson has distinguished herself in music ministry as a singer and a choir director. She is an original member of the Richard Smallwood singers and is known nationally for her work as the founder and original director of the Union Temple Youth Choir.  She directed the choir on its debut CD, “God Reigns.”......
